Come and visit us at Betty’s Farm Christmas Christmas Craft Fair

Posted by Nick on December 3, 2011

We’ll be spending the day at Betty’s Farm http://www.bettysfarm.co.uk in Wilmington, Derbyshire on Saturday 10 December. The Farm Shop will be playing host to lots of local producers, as well as Father Christmas himself, so make a date in your diary and come along to join in all the festivities (and bag yourself some seasonal fare at the same time!).

In addition to bottles of oil, we’ll have some freshly baked goodies (using Heart of Gold, of course!)  for you to taste, plus recipe sheets to accompany them so you can make them at home!

It sounds like it should be a really good day out for all the family, so even if you only swing by for an hour or so (it’s open from 9am to 5pm) it should be well worth your while!

Heart of Gold wins UK packaging award!

Posted by Nick on December 2, 2011

Image how gratified we were to be told that the Heart of Gold shelf-ready box, which holds six bottles of oil, had won a first in the Retail Ready Pack of the Year category at the UK Packaging awards!

We had wanted to provide something which would be easy for our stockists both to handle and to use for display purposes, and it seems that the UK Packaging Awards panel recognised this! Sturdy, practical and stylish, the box front can be peeled away to reveal the bottles inside, without the line of the label or its impact being compromised.

Here are a couple of images showing the outer, plus (very proud moment!) the Winners’ award logo too!

A fun day at Northfield Farm on Saturday!

Posted by Nick on November 22, 2011

The sun shone brightly and the visitors turned out in their masses to the Northfield Farm Christmas Fair last Saturday! It was an early start, but with a continuous stream of shoppers the day passed really quickly – and we sold a bumper number of bottles of Heart of Gold!

I met lots of locals, some of whom were already fans of our oil, and others for whom it was a new (and tasty) experience! They could try it in its natural form, as oil for dipping, but also baked in our special recipe banana bread and our newly-devised Xmas cake cupcakes, both of which proved extremely popular!

The atmosphere was really infectious, buzzing and happy! There was a number of high quality stalls selling both food products and gifts, and the restaurant was thronging. A lively Irish band added to the sense of festivity, and occasioned both dancing from the visitors and much ee-hawing from the resident Northfield donkey by way of accompaniment, to the amusement of the crowd!

All in all, a most enjoyable day out for visitors and stall-holders alike!

Heart of Gold now available online!

Posted by Nick on November 17, 2011

Yes, it’s happened! We’ve now got an online stockist of Heart of Gold who can supply our golden oil nationally, so no more frustrated customers (or frustrated producers for that matter!). Heart of Gold is ‘going global’ – well, not quite (yet!), but it’s a fantastic development and we are especially delighted to be linking up with our neighbours at Northfield Farm.

You’ll be able to purchase Heart of Gold via the newly revamped Northfield Farm website http://www.northfieldfarm.com/online-shop.html where you can also find all manner of foodie delights, which can either be delivered to you by courier or, if you live in the capital, you can collect from the Northfield Farm Shops in London’s Borough and Broadway Markets.

We’re thrilled that Heart of Gold is now going to be more easily accessible nationally, and we hope you are too!

Christmas Cake Cupcakes – the Heart of Gold alternative to Christmas Cake

Posted by Nick on

Remember the days slaving over a gigantic Christmas Cake, which then everyone was too full to do justice to so it hung around till Easter? Well, we’re tremendously excited to have had a quick and easy alternative devised especially for Heart of Gold by our local cupcake supremo, Kate Elizabeth of Enchanting Cakes http://www.enchanting-cakes.com

Having put the recipe to the test, we can confirm that it couldn’t be simpler to make – and that the results taste just as delicious as they look! If you fancy tasting a piece in advance of baking it, then we’ll be unveiling it this Saturday, 19 November, at the Northfield Farm http://www.northfieldfarm.com Christmas Fair which takes places from 8am to 4pm.

For those of you who can’t wait to get cracking, the recipe is listed below – and don’t forget you can add extra dried fruit or marzipan, or indeed make it as a whole cake, if you prefer – let us know how you get on!
