We’re delighted to have been invited to participate in this year’s Christmas Fair at nearby Northfield Farm on Saturday 19 November, from 8am – 4pm.
It’s always a great day out with an infectiously festive atmosphere, and there’s mulled wine, mince pies and homemade hot food available so you can really make a day of it! And with the beguiling mix of local craft stalls and local food producers, you can get a head start on the seasonal shopping: not just presents but store cupboard essentials too!
Northfield Farm is situated at Cold Overton in Rutland and you can find more details of how to get there at http://www.northfieldfarm.com/visit-us
Look forward to seeing you there!
There’s been some more good publicity for Heart of Gold, this time in Taste magazine – http://www.tastederbyshire.co.uk It’s a beautifully designed annual publication, which turns the spotlight on local producers in the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire area. It’s also got some fabulous recipes as well – and, if you fancy a change from the kitchen, there are reviews of the best local eateries too! It was launched at the Chatsworth Country Fair at the beginning of September, and has already been reordered by a couple of large farm shops in the area, so clearly it’s selling well and spreading the word at the same time!
The pdf of the article is below, so you can read it for yourself…
To celebrate National Cupcake Week (12 – 18 September 2011), we are delighted to be joining forces once again with fellow Lincolnshire producer, Enchanting Cakes www.enchanting-cakes.com
Enchanting Cakes’ founder, Kate Elizabeth, makes all her cakes herself, using only the finest, locally-sourced ingredients and to celebrate this year’s National Cupcake Week she has devised a delicious toffee fudge cupcake recipe using Heart of Gold Rapeseed Oil. It sounds absolutely mouthwatering and according to Kate Elizabeth: “This recipe is incredibly simple to make – even the novice baker wouldn’t be phased by it – and the cupcakes are really scrummy, whether iced or left simple.”
I’ll definitely be trying it out as soon as possible, and for those of you who would like to experiment with it straight away, here’s the recipe – enjoy!
At the end of last month I mentioned the lady who is using Heart of Gold in her daily bread and I posted the recipe (27 July). Unfortunately, both she and her husband have recently suffered quite serious health problems, which have set her thinking about how a healthy diet can help with such conditions. She’s striving to keep her husband’s cholesterol in check as well as following a diet high in omegas 3 & 6 to help with her own aches and pains. She’s so thrilled with Heart of Gold and what she considers to be its beneficial effect on her health, that she’s started adapting her recipes to incorporate our oil – no mean accolade!
Read on for details of her delicious-sounding (and looking) recipe for cheese muffins…and apparently there’s others in the pipeline so keep looking out for some more tasty treats using Heart of Gold!
Well, what a day we had yesterday, at the Belton House Food Fayre! It was our best selling event to date, with in excess of 50 bottles being sold, and masses of interest in Heart of Gold being generated as well. We gave away endless customer information sheets and lots of people sampled the oil, either as a simple dip with fresh bread, or made into a tasty cake, which just goes to show versatile it can be!
It was a real family effort, with my wife, my youngest son and his girlfriend all taking their turn at manning the stall – as I was busy doing harvest-related jobs back at the farm! In fact, my main contribution was to keep turning up with more stock, as they kept selling out! Huge thanks to them for all their hard work!
We’ll definitely be back at Belton for next year’s Food Fayre – it’s in the diary already!
