We’ve been experimenting a lot recently with different recipe ideas (memo to self: must get a new section on the website devoted just to recipes!) and one of our favourites is this scrumptious, and really rather virtuous-feeling, banana bread. We’ve used Heart of Gold rapeseed oil instead of butter, and we are delighted with the results. It’s lovely and moist, extremely flavoursome, and can be devoured at all times of the day – we even know someone who eats it for breakfast!
We’ve added a picture (shown with our equally delicious Apple, Sultana & Cinnamon Cake – recipe posted on 7 September 2010 ) to whet your appetite.
Just click on the ‘read this story’ link below for the recipe. Why not try it for yourself – and let us know what you think?!
Imagine how pleased we were to be singled out for praise by the team at Daisy Green Magazine!
In their own words, “the daisygreenmagazine.co.uk team have been described as a cross between Sex In the City and The Good Life. Their aim is to act as role models for those people who wish to live a more ethical and sustainable life, but without preaching. The team are a group of normal women, all who have their own distinct ideas on sustainability, but who look good doing it!”
It seemed like a great fit with Heart of Gold so, nothing ventured nothing gained, we sent a bottle of oil for them to try out, and clearly it ticked all the right boxes! Have a look on the link below to see what how they rated it…

Heart of Gold has just been featured on the mygreenlifestyle website, which is a great honour in itself, but particularly gratifying to find our rapeseed oil featuring on the same page as well-known household names such as Ben Fogle, Jilly Cooper and Liz Earle!

It encourages recycling, remaking, reusing, home-grown and home-made, whilst at the same time embracing traditional values and responsible consumerism.

Well, we like to think Heart of Gold has a broad appeal, and that consumers will become increasingly aware of the benefits of rapeseed oil, so to learn that it had been given a big thumbs up on the That’s Yummy Mummy blog was a real endorsement. Especially as it appears to have been in direct competition with some Greek olive oil! Praise indeed…
You can read all about it, as well as learn all sorts of other interesting things on a diverse range subjects on this lively and informative website – which I am sure will have more than just yummy mummies in its ranks of devoted fans
